Measure the various factors that affect the learning process of students from the aspects of personality, family and school with a focus on learning

Indri Anggraeni Putri, Siti Risma Wati, Siti Risma Wati, Sri Rahayu

This study aims to measure the influence of personality, family environment, and school conditions on the learning process of fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students at SDN Kanggraksan, SDN Silih Asah 1, and SDN Silih Asah 2 in Cirebon, Indonesia. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational survey design, and data were collected through a four-point Likert scale questionnaire. The results show that personality aspects—including responsibility, independence, and motivation to learn—have a significant influence on learning outcomes. In contrast, the family and school aspects did not show a statistically significant influence, although weak to moderate correlations were found between the three variables, with the strongest between personality and family. Female students tend to score higher in the perception of personality and school environment compared to male students. Additional analysis using and Wilks' Lambda test confirmed that only personality variables had a statistically significant influence (F = 5.158, p = 0.024). These findings highlight the importance of a holistic approach in understanding the effectiveness of learning by integrating students' internal and external factors. This research shows that fostering students' personalities supported by family and school structures can improve the overall learning experience and outcomes.

ANALISIS KESULITAN SISWA DALAM BELAJAR PEMECAHAN MASALAH PADA MATA PELAJARAN IPS DI SDN 2 TEGAL WANGI

Abstract: This research investigates the obstacles encountered by elementary students in acquiring social studies skills, with a focus on enhancing their problem-solving capabilities. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study was carried out at SDN 2 Tegal Wangi through classroom observations, teacher interviews (specifically with Grade 4 instructors), and analysis of relevant documents. The results indicate that teaching methods largely remain traditional, showing minimal application of contextual and thematic learning strategies, even though the Merdeka Curriculum has been implemented. In addition, students are seldom encouraged to develop higher-order thinking skills, and the instructional practices rarely incorporate real-world social issues. External factors such as minimal parental involvement, lack of diverse teaching media, and the underutilization of local cultural values as learning resources further hinder students’ ability to solve social problems effectively. This research contributes to the academic discourse by offering insights into the real obstacles within the current learning practices and underscores the need for a more problem-based and student-centered instructional design. Enhancing problem-solving skills in social studies is expected to foster critical thinking, social awareness, and collaborative learning, aligning with the educational goals of the 21st century.

Junior High School EFL Learners' Perceptions of What Contributes to Readability of Model Paragraph

Nadzira Robbani, Nazwa Auliyah, Yulia Nurahayu

This study investigates the features that junior high school EFL learners perceive as influencing the readability of model paragraphs. A total of 279 junior high school students participated in a questionnaire designed to explore their perceptions of what contributes to the readability of model paragraphs. Using a Likert-scale format ranging from strongly disagree to strongly agree, the questionnaire focused on two main factors affecting their reading comprehension of the texts. The findings indicate that while learners are able to identify certain features that affect readability, their perceptions of these features do not significantly influence their overall understanding of the model paragraphs within the context of learning to write.

Self-Regulated Learning and Epistemological Belief as Determining Factors of Success in English Learning

mazaya tari karamina ariska

This study explores the relationship between Self-Regulated Learning (SRL), epistemological beliefs, and English language proficiency. SRL influences learning strategies such as time management, motivation, and academic monitoring, while epistemological beliefs shape learners' understanding of knowledge and learning processes. The research involved 246 Indonesian university students, using questionnaires to assess their learning approaches. Analysis revealed that students with strong self-regulation exhibited better English proficiency, particularly in comprehension and production. Those who viewed knowledge as complex adopted more effective learning strategies, further improving their language skills. Multivariate analysis confirmed SRL’s positive impact on English proficiency and epistemological beliefs’ role in shaping learning perspectives. These findings emphasize the importance of fostering SRL and epistemological awareness in education. By implementing strategies that support self-regulated learning, educators can enhance students’ language acquisition and overall academic success, contributing to more effective learning methods in academic environments.

The Effectiveness of Rosetta Stone App on EFL Learners Listening Comprehension on the Student of Sman 5 Cirebon

Vica Via Vanesa

This study investigates the impact of the Rosetta Stone application on enhancing listening comprehension among eleventh-grade students at SMAN 5 Cirebon, Indonesia. English proficiency is essential in Indonesia, yet many students struggle, particularly with listening skills. The research employed a quasi-experimental design, featuring pre-tests and post-tests to assess the effectiveness of the Rosetta Stone app compared to traditional teaching methods. The results indicated a significant improvement in the experimental group, which used Rosetta Stone, with average post-test scores increasing from 63.00 to 81.00. In contrast, the control group, which received conventional instruction, improved from 60.00 to 73.00. This demonstrates that the app effectively enhances students’ listening comprehension abilities. Additionally, a questionnaire revealed that student motivation to use the Rosetta Stone app was primarily driven by its engaging features and interactive video content. A majority of students expressed that these aspects significantly contributed to their learning experience. The findings suggest that integrating technology, such as the Rosetta Stone application, can lead to improved English listening skills, offering a more dynamic and effective approach to language learning. This study highlights the potential of innovative teaching methods and technological tools in fostering better language acquisition, providing valuable insights for educators aiming to enhance English proficiency in students. Overall, the Rosetta Stone app proves to be a beneficial resource in addressing the challenges of English language learning, particularly in listening comprehension.
