Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies used by fifth grade teachers of SDN Kalijaga Permai to
motivate students in learning science, especially in the human digestive system material. Data were collected
through interviews with teachers. The results showed that teachers used various strategies to foster student
motivation. These strategies include starting lessons with thought-provoking questions and everyday
phenomena, using visual media, encouraging student engagement through discussion, providing individual praise
and support, connecting the material to students' future aspirations, and emphasizing the relevance of science
learning. These strategies collectively aim to foster curiosity, create a sense of importance and concern, overcome
student difficulties, and ultimately increase student learning motivation. This study contributes to the
understanding of effective motivational practices in elementary science education.
