Abstract
This study examines the influence of teachers' perception of the English for Nusantara Class VIII textbook on teaching practices and student involvement in English learning using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. Data was collected from 30 English teachers through a structured questionnaire. The results showed that although the direct influence of teachers' perceptions on student engagement was relatively low, it significantly influenced teaching practices which in turn had a strong impact on student engagement. Indirect effects (β = 0.429) confirmed the mediating role of teaching practices. This model explains 86.2% of student engagement variance, which shows high predictive power. Although the SRMR value (0.125) slightly exceeded the ideal threshold, the overall suitability of the model remains acceptable, suggesting that effective textbook implementation through good teaching practices is essential to increase student engagement.
