Abstract
This study investigates the pedagogical strategies employed by fifth-grade teachers at SDN Kalijaga Permai to enhance student motivation in learning Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), with a focus on the topic of the human digestive system. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of teaching documents. Thematic analysis revealed several motivational strategies: the use of trigger questions, integration of visual media, implementation of group discussions, personalized teaching approaches, reinforcement through praise, connections to real-life applications and aspirations, and emphasis on the practical benefits of learning science. These strategies promote student engagement by stimulating curiosity, fostering confidence, and aligning the learning content with students’ interests and future goals. The study highlights the importance of a contextual, humanistic, and future-oriented learning environment. Findings contribute to a deeper understanding of motivational pedagogy in primary education and offer practical implications for educators and policymakers aiming to improve IPAS instruction.
