Abstract

Abstract: This qualitative research aims to explore how picture media can be used to improve the reading skills of lower grade students in Indonesian language learning at elementary schools. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of teaching documents. The study revealed that the use of picture media helped students enhance their reading comprehension, increased their interest in reading activities, and stimulated vocabulary acquisition. The findings align with previous research from both national and international sources emphasizing the effectiveness of visual media in early literacy development. The study concludes with recommendations for teachers to integrate picture media strategically into their instructional planning.
