Abstract

Critical thinking is an important skill that allows students to analyze, evaluate, and draw conclusions logically
and systematically. This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of grade V students in Indonesian
learning, especially through storybook materials. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with
31 students at SDN Kedungkrisik. Data were collected through teacher description tests and interviews,
based on six critical thinking indicators: interpretation, analysis, inference, evaluation, explanation, and self
regulation. The results showed the highest achievement in the indicator of giving a logical reason or
explanation (93.55%) and the lowest in the indicator of reflecting and evaluating oneself (50.54%). In general,
students' critical thinking skills are in the medium category. The conclusion of this study states that students
have potential in logical reasoning, but still face difficulties in evaluate one's own understanding and identify
relevant information in the text. This research contributes to the world of education by revealing specific
aspects of students' critical thinking and providing suggestions for learning improvement to encourage deep
thinking skills in Indonesian learning
